Goal:    Participants will set up the ANGEL gradebook to be consistent with their grading policies
Objectives:    Participants will be able to...
  • identify if they are using a points based gradebook or a percentage based gradebook
  • define categories for assignments
  • assign weights to categories (if using percentage based gradebook)
  • configure automatic dropping of lowest XX grades (if applicable)
  • create grading scale, defining numerical break points to correspond to letter grades
  • add simple assignments
    • map assignments to corresponding categories
    • assign point values to assignments
  • enter grades by assignment
  • view all grades
  • enter grades by student
  • print a copy of their gradebook
  • identify the difference between giving a zero and giving no grade
  • change the default display for grades (percentage, points, etc)

This workshop is focused on ANGEL's drop box, and is scheduled to immediately follow Gradebook training.

Goal:    Participants will be able to configure drop boxes within ANGEL.
Objectives:    Participants will be able to...
  • Configure and add a drop box
    • use access dates to control student access to the drop box based on dates and times
    • control the number of submissions a student can make to a drop box
    • control the type of submissions a student can make to a drop box
    • set user review options to allow students to view their own submission or all submissions
    • create an assignment in the gradebook and link the drop box to the assignment
      • identify an appropriate calculation method to be used for the assignment grade.

Goal:    Participants will be able to configure advanced settings within discussion forums in ANGEL.
Objectives:    Participants will be able to...

  • use access dates to control student access to the discussion forum based on dates and times
  • set specific permissions for the discussion board based on team association
  • select between different discussion forum modes, including normal, private journal, and required post
  • configure a discussion forum as a "sign up" tool
  • create a moderated discussion forum
  • establish "roles" for students within a discussion forum
  • create a quantitative rubric for evaluating student work
